Normandy, watercolor, c.late 1870s, 7.5 x 11 inches, matted and framed 13.5 x 17.25 inches, a beautiful scene of a sandy coast in Normandy, France, likely painted in the last half of the 1870s, after Gignoux returned to his native country. // 2. Road to Tilleul, Normandy, watercolor on paper, 1878, 9 x 12.5 inches, matted and framed 15.5 x 18.5 inches, a solitary figure on a road in the woods of Tilleul, France, a small village in the Normandy region, painted after Gignoux left America and returned to his native country. Titles attributed from Gignoux's own notebook where he recorded all of his works and sales -- these with his inventory numbers 94 and 84, respectively, on the reverse. Provenance: From the estate of Arthur B. de Saint Maurice, the great-grandson of Regis Gignoux.
