Description

Cabinet Card taken by William H. Tipton of a monument at the Gettysburg battlefield dedicated to the 27th Pennsylvania. The monument was erected in 1884 on Coster Avenue in Gettysburg, this was where the regiment covered the retreat of the Eleventh Corps on July 1, 1863. William H. Tipton was a photographer noted for his extensive early documentation of the Gettysburg Battlefield and the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
