Letter written by Frank E. Marsh of the 11th Vermont Heavy Artillery on April 6th, 1863 from Fort Slocum in New York. Four pages, postal cover addressed to Mr. Clarendon W. Tucker, East Calais, Vermont.
Marsh writes of how he has been sick and hospitalized due to measles. He describes almost dying, but that he felt he “must live long enough to see Old Vermont once more.” He says that he likes life in the army so far, but that it hasn’t been too tough yet.
Marsh was wounded at the Battle of Cold Harbor, Virginia on June 4th, 1864.
