Description
Letter written in German by Henry Winter of the 11th Kentucky Cavalry. Winter died of disease on August 18th, 1864 at the infamous Andersonville prison camp where he is buried. Two pages. Winter talks about life in camp and mentions that General John Hunt Morgan had recently been spotted in the area. He mentions that a “brother Bill” is chasing after General Morgan and ends the letter by saying “we live a free life in this camp, we have no king, no police, and no sorrow, and we live for the moment.”
