(Universal, 1980) Original promotional artwork created for the theatrical release of The Last Married Couple in America, starring George Segal and Natalie Wood. This comedy film was notably the last completed film prior to Wood's unexpected death by drowning in 1981. This artwork comes from the collection of Bill Wallen, and represents a theatrical poster concept for the film that depicts both Segal and Wood. Accomplished primarily in airbrush and acrylic on artist's board, the artwork was constructed with the title and background color painted on the board, with the characters having been painted on separate artist's paper that was trimmed and applied over the board. Measuring 33"x30", the artwork is in good condition with some surface wear to the clear protective sheet that is hinged over the artwork. There is some edge-wear to the board and some worn portions to the tape around the edges.
