Unusual Musical Manivelle Musicians and Acrobat Automaton, c. 1920
Maker unknown. Three figures with bisque heads, glass eyes, wigs (not removed for inspection) and carved wood and composition lower-limbs, the musicians supporting a painted chair upon which balances an acrobatic clown, wearing polychrome felt and lace-trimmed velvet costumes, on wood base with hand-turned movement playing a single air as the musicians move their heads and hands and their colleague elevates his body into a handstand position, ht. 22 ½ in. (57 cm) excluding acrobat's hat, working condition, small chip on acrobat's upper lip, face and hands of one figure possibly repainted. Ungewöhnlicher Manivelle-Puppenautomat mit Musikern und Akrobat, um 1920
Hersteller nicht bekannt. 3 Puppen mit Köpfen aus Biskuitporzellan, Glasaugen, Perücken (nicht zur Kontrolle entfernt), geschnitzte Glieder, Hände und Füße aus Mischmasse. Die Musiker tragen einen weiß lackierten Stuhl, auf dem ein Akrobat balanciert, auf ihren Schultern, gekleidet in farbigen Samtkostümen mit Filz- und Spitzenbesatz, auf Holzsockel, Mechanik mit Handkurbelantrieb, Walzenspielwerk mit einer Melodie. Die Musiker bewegen ihre Köpfe und Hände und ihr Partner hebt seinen Körper in den Handstand, Höhe ohne den Hut des Akrobaten 57 cm, funktionierender Zustand, eine kleine Abplatzung an der Oberlippe des Akrobaten, Gesicht und Hände einer Puppe eventuell nachgemalt. Ein sehr amüsanter Automat. - Provenienz: Sammlung von José Mario Armero.
