BLISS BROTHERS General Mine Office & Store, The Bell, Lewis and Yates Coal Mining Company, Reynoldsville, Pa. 1887, c Albumen print 19.3x23.25" mammoth plate ASG# BLI/1001. Mounted on 23.5x25.5" heavy board with printed title embossment credit on mount Bliss Bros, Photographers Buffalo, NY.
Mammoth plate albumen prints of eastern views are exceedingly rare. This is a view of the mining company two story headquarters with three officials posing on the steps, the store and street to the left.
Bliss Bros. (Harry b.1866) and Frank (b.1858) were sons of Horace Bliss who opened a photographer studio in Buffalo, New York in 1859 running it until bad health forced him to turn the company over to his sons. They were active until about 1910.

Good. Rich tones with light yellowing with streaks and light stains, moderate wear, emulsion missing upper left corner, mount is fragile and breaking
