1. BENNETT & BROWN, No. 4 Santa Fe and Vicinity, the Plaza, 1881 c. 4.25x7", Albumen Stereo Card, City of Santa Fe backmark, ASG# BT&B/1043. A view of the fenced-in Plaza and Indian Wars Obelisk, people walking and a man with wood-laden burros standing next to the fence.

William Edward Hook (1833, England- 1908 Colorado Springs). came to the United States in 1867 and traveled widely. He opened photo studios in Wisconsin and Michigan before moving west. In April 1885, at the age of 52, Hook arrived in Manitou Springs, Colorado and opened his studio in the Thurlow Building located just east of the Bark Hotel on Manitou Avenue. By 1890, Hook was operating out of his Colorado Springs studio on Tejon Street. For twenty years or so, Hook photographed the people and sites of the Pikes Peak region producing individual photographs, photograph albums, and tourist guides. Hook died in 1908 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs. He became a major wholesale view publisher and distributor selling 100,000 views in 1890. Henry Brown (d. 1885) moved to Santa Fe with his father, photographer, Nicholas Brown. In 1880 he formed a partnership with George C. Bennett publishing under the name Bennett and Brown. Bennett is the camera operator until ill health in 1883 leads Brown to hire other operators. During this time Brown published over 400 views under his own name as well as Bennett & Brown. These included many views of Pueblo Indians, mission churches and Indian Pueblo architecture along the Rio Grande. Henry Brown moved to Parral, Mexico in 1884, then to El Paso in 1885 where he died of consumption. Ref: Richard Rudisill, Photographers of the New Mexico Territory, 1854-1912.

George C. Bennett primarily made stereographs and is noted in Santa Fe in 1878 publishing under the name Bennett & Burrell, Bennett and Burrell 1880 to 1883 published as Bennett & Brown Bennett and Brown.
