Description

Title: A Tough Decision Sixth Plate Portrait

Additional Info: A lovely 1/6 plate daguerreotype. The daguerreotypist was confident enough in his abilities to shoot his teenage subject, shrouded in a shiny dark cotton dress, with a lace collar and contrasting undersleeves, against a black void. His lighting successfully pulled her out of the black abyss and created a pleasing sixth plate. The girl’s brooch and bracelet are painted with gold and her cheeks and lips are lightly rouged. Full case. This image came from noted Dealer Dennis Waters and is in the seventh issue of his Daguerreian Forum.
