Description
North America, Native American, Kenton County, Kentucky, ca. 1000 to 1750 CE. A huge stone hand axe with a three-quarters grooved handle, carved from a mottled pale-brown stone with light inclusions. The handle has a thick gripping end, and the bottom side is flattened for standing upright. The triangular blade end is comprised of two large and flat faces which taper gradually into a slight dulled edge. Size: 6.75" L (17.1 cm).

Age-commensurate surface wear as expected, small chips and nicks to blade edge and along both faces, a few areas of roughness, and light earthen deposits throughout. Otherwise very good. "Kenton, CO. 5/19/69 KY, J. Cason" written on one face and side of handle groove in black marker.
