Normandie Avant l'orage (Normandy Before the Storm), c.1875, watercolor on paper, signed bottom right and titled on the mount, 9.5 x 13 inches, mounted to a larger piece of board. // 2. Church and Cottage in Normandy, c.1875, watercolor on paper, signed bottom left, 10.5 x 14.25 inches, mounted to a larger piece of board. // 3. Chateau in Normandy, 1878, watercolor on paper, signed and dated on the mount, 9.5 x 14.5 inches, mounted to larger sheet. Titles taken from Gignoux's own notebook where he recorded all of his works and sales -- these with his inventory numbers 43, 190 and 68, respectively, on the reverse. The Normandy region of France was a popular subject for Gignoux after he returned to his native country in 1870. Provenance: From the estate of Arthur B. de Saint Maurice, the great-grandson of Regis Gignoux.

1. Light layer of surface soil, small stain in the clouds, small areas of scraping, waviness to the paper likely from the adhesive used to mount it. / 2.
