Description
A choice Roman administrative bulla from the ancient city of Ephesus, c. 2nd - 3rd Century AD, of lead with the Greek letters E Φ E – C I in two lines within a square. A hole runs through the side where it was attached to a cord and protected a box, scroll or cabinet, likely for a government official of this famous city in western Asia Minor. 19 x 19 mm with grey oxide patina. Ex Los Angeles private collection.
