Millard Fillmore Free Frank, PSA/DNA Slabbed & Graded NM-MT 8
A free frank signed by 13th U.S. President Millard Fillmore (1800-1874) as "Free / M. Fillmore," attached to a larger card. The incomplete postmark was from Buffalo, New York, where Fillmore lived for most of his life. The free frank fragment is adhered to the card above a typed catalog description of the free frank, probably dating from the early twentieth-century. The card is lightly stained verso where it was once mounted in a scrapbook. Else very good. PSA/DNA graded NM-MT 8. The card measures 3.875" x 2.625" while the slab measures 7.125" x 4.25."
Millard Fillmore grew up near Buffalo, and also pursued his early legal and political career there. Fillmore returned to Buffalo after his brief vice presidency and presidential term (1850-1853).
