Wedgwood (English). A set of four late 18th to early 19th Century Jasperware cameo portrait medallions, produced on light blue bodies with white bisque relief profile images of four French monarchs, in descending order of placement in frame: Hugh Capet (c. 939-996), King of the Franks from 987-996, founder and first king from the House of Capet; Charles II, called Charles the Bald (823-877), King of West Francia (843–877) and Holy Roman Emperor (875–877); Childeric I (c.?437-481), Frankish Merovingian Dynasty king; and John II (1319-1364), called John the Good (French: Jean le Bon), King of France from 1350-1364. Modeled by William Hackwood (c. 1757–1839), Wedgwood artist from 1769-1832. Presented in an antique fitted wooden frame with hanging hardware. Excellent antique patina. Includes copy of circa 1985 O'Toole Ewald appraisal (contained inside frame). Good overall condition with age related wear to medallions and frame. Measures 2 in.
