This cotton pictorial quilt is treadle machine pieced and hand quilted, with pale pink hand embroidered figures such as a vase, pansies, roses, morning glories, dogwood blossoms, lilies of the valley and the date "1914" in the center. It measures 84" X 88" and is in mint, never washed condition, with a couple of small, faint spots and no wear. The quilt feels strong and sturdy overall. The quilting is excellent, with straight line and orange peel designs quilted throughout at an even 10 stitches to the inch, with faint pencil marks still visible in places. The back and hand stitched, rolled binding are white, and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed residue inside when you hold the quilt up to the light.
