Description

Great Scott! It's a RIAA Gold LP award for the Back To The Future: Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack. The soundtrack album for the classic 1985 film was released on July 20, 1985 and was certified Gold on Sept. 6, 1985 for 500,000 copies sold.

Containing "The Power of Love", the first #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 for Huey Lewis and the News, which was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, the album also contained tracks from Eric Clapton, Lindsay Buckingham, Etta James and score writer Alan Silvestri. Tracks were also included from fictional group "Marty McFly with the Starlighters", named after Michael J. Fox's lead character in the film although musicians Harry Waters, Jr. (as "Marvin Berry"), Mark Campbell (as "Marty McFly"), and Tim May actually played on those tracks. The album peaked at #12 on Billboard's Top Pop Albums chart.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
