Description
This lot consists of an unframed oil painting on canvas, done in the Pointillist style of Georges-Pierre Seurat (French, 1859-1891). Image depicts a well-worn path that is lined with grass and flourishing shrubbery. Hand-painted inscription at lower right. Overall unframed dimensions approximately 23.5" x 15.5".
Reverse side of canvas features two affixed paper labels and two stamps.
Georges-Pierre Seurat (French, 1859-1891) was a post-Impressionist painter who is best known for developing the distinctive Pointillist style. Seurat was a lover of abstraction and romanticism alike. Today, his most iconic piece, "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte", is housed at the Art Institute of Chicago.
