Description
1st item: Civil War military appointment commission for Paschall Pullman of Company B, 19th Regiment Michigan Infantry to the rank of 3rd Sergeant at Murfreesboro, TN on August 13, 1863. (Framed: 19 1/4" H x 24" W) Note - Pullman enlisted in August 1862 at Allegan, Michigan as a Corporal, at the age of 26. After being promoted to sergeant, he was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 23 May, 1864. He was killed in action at Peachtree Creek, Ga., July 20, 1864, while commanding the company B (courtesy Bentley Historical Library, University of Michigan). 2nd item: Cornith, Miss. 1862 Confederate telegraph document secretarially signed by Braxton Bragg to General Jordan pertaining to transporting supplies from Humboldt and Jackson, Tennessee. Also includes an engraving of General Bragg, Appleton & Co. 3rd item: Confederate Camp 5th Brigade permission pass dated July 16th, 1862 allowing Major Dewitt C. Douglass to pass through the picketts, signed by Colonel John Fite Goodner, Commander 7th Tennessee. 4th item: Confederate States Government receipt for Randal McGavock for the purchase of one of his horses at the appraised value at Wytheville, VA in 1865. 5th item: Goodson, VA Nov. 25th 1864 receipt to James Preston of Washington Co., VA for produce for the Confederate States. 6th item: Two CIvil War era envelopes with Confederate Stamps and postmarks from Virginia and Mississippi. (smallest: 3 1/8" H x 5 1/4" W) 7th item: General Orders No. 10 by LC Easton, Lieut. Colonel & Chief Quartermaster regarding neglect and abuse of animals. 8th item: "The National School of the Soldier" by Captain W. W. Van Ness, 1862 (appears to be a later reprint). The National School for the Soldier An Elementary Work on Military Tactics in Questions and Answers.
Condition
Documents with minor separations at the folds, toning, expected wear for age. Reprint "National School of Soldier" with adhesive and other material on spine and cover.
