We are honored to present FINE ASIAN ART, BUDDHISM AND HINDUISM. Standing out from our fall calendar, this major two-day auction features 701 works of art from China, India, Southeast Asia, and beyond, bringing together exceptional works distinguished by rarity, quality, and outstanding provenance.
The highlight is our flagship live auction on Day 1 (lots 1-250), showcasing masterpieces of exceptional rarity, importance, and provenance. As always, a printed catalog accompanies this sale. Among our highlights are a magnificent fire-gilt bronze bear, Han dynasty, measuring 14 cm and from the Bacher Collection; an exceptional 50 cm standing figure of Padmapani, Nepal, 13th century, formerly in the collection of Damien Woliner and with Christie’s provenance; the world-famous imperial trompe-l'œil bianhu (moonflask), formerly in the collection of Octave du Sartel (1823–1894), with an extraordinary provenance documented back to 1878 and subsequent appearances at Cornette de St. Cyr and Christie’s; and two superb archaic Chinese ritual bronzes, a jiao and a he, with distinguished provenances from J. T. Tai & Co., New York, and Christian Deydier.
Day 2 (lots 251-701) continues with our online auction, offering seasoned collectors and new bidders alike an extensive selection of Chinese, Himalayan, Indian, Southeast Asian, and other works of Asian art at competitive starting prices and estimates.
