George III Silver

The George III style refers to antique furniture and decorative objects that date from the mid 18th century to the mid 19th century. This style gets its name from Great Britains King George III, who reigned from 1760 until 1811. There was a great flourishing in literature, design, arts, and architecture during the George III era. Several distinct styles appeared, including Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassical. In contrast to the heavy, Gothic pieces of the previous time, George III designs were much more delicate and refined. Characterized by elegant forms, fine lines, excellent craftsmanship, and smooth, shiny finishes, these pieces exude a vintage aesthetic.
