MASAYOSHI LINEAGE A Satsuma Katana in Guntō Mounts Edo period (1615-1868), dated 1784 Of honzukuri, iorimune configuration with a chū-gissaki and toriizori curvature forged in itame hada with a suguha tempered edge ending in a ko-maru bōshi, the ubu tang with one hole, katte sagari file marks, signed Satsuma Miyako Taira Masayoshi and dated Tenmei yonen tatsu nigatsu (Second month of 1784), with a one-piece gilt habaki; in a military mount with general's tassel and chain Nagasa (length from tip of blade to beginning of the tang) 70.5cm (27 3/4in) long.
