An interesting archive relating to the 1958 Mansfield Sports Car Races at DeSoto Parish Airport, Louisiana, comprising original race photographs, a complete five page unpublished race report prepared for Road & Track magazine, and the accompanying editorial correspondence.

Compiled by Texas-based motoring journalist Norman Carlisle, with photographs by Don Jolly, the archive centres on the meeting held on 20–21 August 1958. Included is Carlisle's original typed race report together with a signed letter from Road & Track Associate Editor Dean Batchelor, dated 31 October 1958, explaining that the article could not be published due to space limitations and because the accompanying photographs did not reproduce satisfactorily in print. As a result, the material remained unpublished.

The accompanying photographs include a remarkable series documenting the event, among them several images featuring a Ferrari750 Monza, together with pit-lane scenes, action photographs and views of competing sports-racing cars.
