
Description
(1906-1945) high-ranking commander in the Waffen-SS and almost brother-in-law to Adolf Hitler via marriage. In September 1939, after the invasion of Poland, Fegelein commanded the SS Totenkopf Reiterstandarte, garrisoned in Warsaw until December. He participated in the Battle of Belgium and France as a member of the SS-Verfugungstruppe, and for his service, was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class. In September of 1943, after being wounded, he was assigned as Himmler's liaison at the Hitler headquarters. Fegelein was present at the failed attempt on Hitler's life on 20 July 1944. He was on duty at Hitler's Fuhrerbunker in Berlin in the closing months of the war, and was shot for desertion on 28 April 1945. Heinrich Hoffmann sepia postcard, signed on the front in blue ink.
