(1913 - 1941) German Luftwaffe ace, he became the leading German ace in the Spanish Civil War and was the first to claim 100 'kills'. A fine pair of associated signed pieces. Included is a rare S.P., 4 x 5.75 in. color printed portrait of Molders by Wolfgang Willrich (1897-1948) showing Molders in the cockpit of his fighter, signed in pencil with fair contrast. A 'Feldpost' stamp appears on verso. WITH: a war-date T.L.S. by Molders, 1p. 4to., Mar. 22, 1941, in German. In part: '...I am very grateful for the wonderful picture cards and was particularly pleased with the picture of Major [Helmut] Wick [(1915-1940, Luftwaffe ace, Oak Leaves, presumed KIA]. I think it is very good, especially the mouth and eye area...You can keep the photograph I sent you, as I have a picture of it before that. I myself now need a lot of postcards and so I contacted the VDA a few days ago and asked them to send me 1000 of them, for which I would be billed. I hope that I can expect them to arrive soon...' Both in fine condition.
