(June 25) and upon arrival in London.Ê Newton writes to his brother, also a Bombardier in the 3rd Battalion Detachment at Woolwich, and writes "you must not expect a letter very often for they will not take them without an English stamp & it is a difficult job to get one....excuse my scrawl as I have to write it on the top of my chaco under a bush".Ê An early letter from the Crimean War and a very scarce use of the 1d rate from the Crimea.
