Stampless cover (edge faults) to Scotland, endorsed "From Capt. Craufurd, 91st Highld, On active Service" with a circular framed "6d" charge mark, backstamped at Durban (June 27) and Cramond, Edinburgh. The enclosed letter, written from "camp on the Umlalaze River", describes the march to Chelmsford Laager and onto the Umlalaze River, the building of a small fort, shelling of a Zulu Kraal, and the troops being accompanied by Umaqwenda, brother of Cetamayo, who has persuaded some chiefs to come in.
