Offered is a commemorative postal cover hand-signed by Robert J. Gilliland, legendary Lockheed test pilot who flew the first-ever flight of the SR-71 Blackbird, one of the most iconic and advanced aircraft in aviation history.

Robert Gilliland (1926–2019) was the chief test pilot for the Lockheed Skunk Works and the first man to fly the SR-71, which took to the skies for the first time on December 22, 1964. He logged over 6,500 flight hours, with more than 900 in the SR-71 and YF-12, helping to develop and refine the world's fastest and highest-flying manned aircraft. His work with the legendary Clarence “Kelly” Johnson placed him at the center of Cold War aerospace innovation, pushing the boundaries of speed, altitude, and stealth.
