Robert Ley (15 February 1890 – 25 October 1945): Head of DAF, the German Labour Front, from 1933 to 1945. In 1941 he was given a new role, Reich Housing Commissioner, to prepare for the effects on German housing of the expected Allied air attacks. He encouraged the programme of extermination of the Jews of Europe through the virulent anti-Semitism of his publications and speeches. Committed suicide before the Nuremberg trial began.
