Operating for more than 200 years before its closure in 1983, the distillery has since achieved cult status amongst collectors and enthusiasts, with surviving bottlings becoming increasingly scarce and highly sought after within the secondary market. This exceptional 25 Year Old expression was distilled on 5th October 1982 - just one year before the distillery's closure - and bottled on 13th August 2008 by Signatory Vintage as part of the highly respected Cask Strength Collection series. Matured for a full quarter-century in a single wine-treated butt, the whisky was bottled exclusively for La Maison du Whisky, further enhancing its rarity and international collector appeal. Linlithgow whiskies are celebrated for their distinctive old-style Lowland character, often displaying an elegant balance of waxy textures, orchard fruits, gentle spice, floral notes, and complex maturation influence. The use of a wine-treated butt in this release adds further depth and individuality, creating a rich and layered interpretation of this increasingly legendary distillery. Independent bottlings of St. Magdalene from the early 1980s are particularly prized, offering collectors a rare opportunity to experience whisky distilled during the final years of production. Combining silent distillery status, single cask rarity, cask strength presentation, and exclusive release provenance, this bottling represents an exceptional example from one of Scotland's most celebrated lost distilleries.
