Reliefierte Beinpyxis mit Deckel. Roemische Kaiserzeit, 2. Drittel 4. Jh. n. Chr. H 4,7cm, ? 4,2cm. Kleine zylindrische Dose mit flachem Deckel. Aussen Fries mit sitzendem Apoll eine Kithara haltend, nach rechts folgend ein Kantharos und zwei Eroten. Auf dem Deckel die Bueste einer Dame nach rechts. Ihre einfache klassische Frisur mit Nackenknoten erinnert an die der Fausta, der Gattin des Kaisers Konstantin I. Oberflaeche der Pyxis stellenweise berieben, Deckel aus zwei Teilen zusammengesetzt, dabei kleine Fehlstelle. Provenienz: Seit 1985 in der Sammlung Erwin Oppenlaender (1901 - 1988) und Nachfolger. Relief-decorated pyxis with lid made of bone. Roman Imperial Period, 2nd third of the 4th century AD. H 4.7cm, ? 4.2cm. Small cylindrical box with flat lid. The exterior features a frieze depicting the seated Apollo holding a kithara, followed to the right by kantharos and two Erotes. On the lid is the bust of a lady facing right. Her simple, classic hairstyle with nape knot is reminiscent of that of Fausta, wife of Emperor Constantine I. Surface of the pyxis rubbed in places, lid made of two parts, with a small defect.
