A cased pair of 28-bore flintlock duelling pistols by Utting 265 Borough, London With rebrowned twist octagonal barrels maker's signature along the top flat and with silver fore-sight, gold lines and band of engraved starburst on each breech, gold-lined touch-holes, tangs each with back-sight and tang engraved foliage, flat bevelled signed engraved with foliage at the stepped tail, safety-catches line engraved, and rollers each bearing on the steel-spring, figured full stocks each with chequered butt, and carved butt cap engraved steel mounts comprising trigger guard and ramrod pipe mounts , trigger-guards each with pineapple finial and engraved foliage on the border engraved bow, silver barrel-bolt escutcheons and fore-end, turned steel ramrod, one replaced, set triggers: in later relined and refitted mahogany case with some accessories including three-way powder-flask, bullet mould and cleaning rod and turnscrew, the lid bearing replacement trade label for Cogswell the exterior of the lid with flush-fitting circular brass escutcheon engraved with a rampant hound.
