An unusual George III battle of the Nile snuffbox by Samuel Pemberton, Birmingham, 1805 The cover engraved a sphinx, a crocodile, sea serpents, crocodiles and a sphinx on a prick dot ground, the base with stylised Egyptian Hieroglyphics, the sides with a Greek key band, 5.1cm wide, together with a George III novelty vinaigrette, by Joseph Willmore, Birmingham, 1819, formed as a purse and engraved with bands to simulate a textile pattern, the gilt grille pierced and engraved with an urn, scrolls and foliage, contained in fitted box, 3.8cm wide, weight 1.7oz. (2) Footnotes: Following the loss of Admiral Lord Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 there was an outpouring of grief for the national hero.
