Military Interest: An early Victorian table snuffbox By Edward Farrell, London, 1838 Of heavy gauge and engine turned and with slightly convex sides, the lid with heavy floral chased border featuring roses, thistles and shamrock, inscribed 'To Mr Randall, New Inn, Maidstone, on the occasion of the cavalry Depot steeple chase, which took place at Cobtree Farm, December 3rd, 1838, the base engraved with the names of the ten officers who presented the box, the interior gilt , height 4.1cm, length 10.2cm, weight 10.3oz.
