A double-sided illuminated leaf from a manuscript of the poems of Sa'di written in nasta'liq Persia, 16th Century Persian manuscript on paper, central text panel recto and verso with 9 lines written in fine nasta'liq in black ink with some words picked in gold, blue and red, further text outside this written diagonally on sky-blue paper, inner margins ruled in colours and gold, illuminated floral triangular cornerpieces, gold-sprinkled wide outer borders leaf 250 x 150 mm. Footnotes: Provenance Property from a distinguished private collection, London. The text in the central panel is from the Gulistan of Sa'di, that in the margins is from the Bustan. A group of thirty-six leaves from the same manuscript were sold at Christie's, Art of the Islamic and Indian Worlds, 26th October 2023, lot 6. Another folio from this manuscript is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (inv. no. 1978.84).
