A late Timurid or early Safavid tinned-copper bowl Persia, late 16th/ early 17th Century of squat form tapering towards an everted rim, engraved and decorated to neck with a band of inscription-filled cartouches interspersed by floral sprays, lobed cartouches to body alternating with trefoil palmettes 31 cm. diam. Footnotes: Inscriptions: to rim, sahib 'abd al-husayn/ghgulam-e shah amir beg, 'The owner 'Abd al-Husayn, the servant of Shah Amir Beg'; to cartouches, Firdawsi's Shahnameh and one from Sa'di's Bustan.
