A printed map of Iran, with a small inset map of Tehran, and incorporating parts of the Gulf and southern Russia Qajar Persia, produced by Mirza 'Abd al-Razzaq Khan, dated AH 1316/AD 1898-99 printed with colour, folding, backed with cloth 152.5 x 152.5 cm.; folded 31 x 38.5 cm. Footnotes: The text on the map states that it was produced by Mu'tamid al-Sultan Mirza 'Abd al-Razzaq Khan Sartip [brigadier] Muhandis [engineer], who studied at the Dar al-Funun under 'Abd al-Ghaffar. 'Abd al-Razzaq is praised for his work and the map is said to be perfect. It bears the seal impression of Najm al-Dawlah ('Abd al-Ghaffar Najm al-Dawlah, a famous astrologer, and a teacher at the Dar al-Funun, d. 1909). Another note praises the work of Mirza 'Abd al-Razzaq, and states that all the mistakes in previous maps have here been corrected. It is signed Ja'far Quli with his seal impression as vazir-e 'ulum (Minister of Science); he was also titled Nayyir al-Mulk and was the director of Dar al-Funun. Another note gives the time of journeys from various places including Bombay, from Karachi to the Persian Gulf and back. A further note states that no copying of this is allowed without permission.
