A metal-thread embroidered velvet-mounted leather wallet Ottoman Turkey or Caucasus, 17th Century of rectangular form with cusped flap, the red morocco profusely embroidered in gilt silver thread with floral motifs, three further leather flaps to interior, the reverse with a panel containing vegetal interlace and the initials 'H S' and 'IIB' 14.5 x 9.5 cm. Footnotes: A similar wallet with inscription dating its presentation to 1617 is in the National Trust Collection at Seaton Delaval Hall, Northumberland (NT 1276903).
