An album of thirty-two watercolours depicting views of Bombay, Delhi, Dacca, etc., and Lahore, including the Tomb of Maharajah Ranjit Singh British School in India, by Capt G. William Dale, Royal Engineers, dated September 1943-February 1944 watercolours on paper, and three in pencil, pasted into an album, typewritten captions pasted in, brown leather album apparently contemporary with the paintings (label Made in India) paintings: the smallest 175 x 215 mm.; the largest 310 x 237 mm.; album 265 x 360 mm. Footnotes: This fascinating group of paintings in vibrant colours are a record of a British officer's tour of duty in India, from the voyage out via west Africa to arrival in Bombay, then duty (and presumably tourism) in cities including Lahore, Delhi and Dacca, and smaller places such as Chandernagore (where he sat to be drawn by the artist G.
