Since 2010, the painter, sculptor, and installation artist Andreas Hofer, born in Munich and living in Berlin, has exclusively used the artist name Andy Hope 1930, introduced around 2000. The artist studied from 1991-1997 at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts and subsequently at the Chelsea College of Art and Design in London. Although he himself is a representative of figurative painting, he also cites Suprematism and Russian Constructivism as sources of inspiration, alongside Surrealism and Dadaism. Works by Andy Hope are represented in important collections such as the Lenbachhaus in Munich and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.
