1900 Braunschweig - 1983 Königslutter - Figure - Color linocut/paper. 2/6. 20.5 x 16 cm, 26.5 x 18.5 cm (mat opening). 41 x 31 cm (dimensions with frame). Signed lower right: Thilo. Mat. Framed under glass. Browned. Stained. The artist was promoted by Kandinsky and exhibited in 1925 at the "Gesellschaft der Freunde junger Kunst" in Braunschweig. He associated with Klee, Feininger, among others. Herwarth Walden dedicated a solo exhibition to him at the "Der Sturm" gallery in 1927. During the Third Reich, his art was classified as "degenerate"; thereafter, even after the war, he worked as a teacher. In 1966, his work was rediscovered and widely exhibited.
