Although some of the tools are very similar to those used by the Queens' Binder B, some show slight variations and some appear peculiar to our binding. Provenance: John Roland Abbey, gilt bookplate; his sale, Sotheby's, 23 June 1965, lot 509; Harry A. Levinson Rare Books, loosely inserted letter ('It is a lovely thing. In addition it has a genuine 17th century fore-edge of a Scotch thistle, painted under the gilt.
