Faience Vase Emile Gallé, Nancy, c. 1880-1882 Faience, reddish shard, with paste-blue tin glaze. Pear shape retracted in the ground zone on a constricted, arched base. Wide neck and muzzle rim with bead profile. The wall is provided with weak wave grooving. Painted in cobalt blue with seascape, island with homestead. Foot and muzzle rim decorated in blue. Signed in the bottom: E. Gallé Nancy (cobalt blue lettering, h. 14.5 cm. Lit.: Bernd Hakenjos, ceramics by Emile Gallé, Hetjens Museum, Düsseldorf, 1981, p. 53, fig. 77 (identical in shape and décor).
