Inspired by Gerrit Rietveld's rustic garden furniture of the 1940s, Inessa designed a range of outdoor furniture made from weather-resistant wood panels. The furniture evokes the minimalist designs of Donald Judd, the simplicity of Enzo Mari's self-produced furniture, and the understated elegance of church pews designed by the Dutch Benedictine monk Dom Hans Van der Laan.Inessa HanschA graduate of the Saint-Luc Higher Institute of Architecture in Brussels, Inessa Hansch founded her firm in Paris in 2007. A professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Design since 2014, she leads a studio dedicated to the development of public spaces, which she considers a lever for structuring the territory.Her practice operates at various scales, with projects ranging from furniture and buildings to urban planning. Following a unique approach, she explores the capacity of any construction to awaken spatial awareness. Frequently collaborating with landscape architects from the outset of projects, Hansch seeks to anchor each built form in its environment to reveal its specific character and the true potential of the site. Her approach to structuring space is the subject of a long-standing artistic collaboration with the painter Susanne Kühn, with whom she has created numerous three-dimensional works.
