Scherer, London The case surmounted by a brass carrying handle above a brass bound single pad top with moulded surround, the front door with pierced brass sound frets backed in red silk, the sides with fishscale brass sound frets backed in glass, terminating in a moulded base and standing on four brass ogee feet. The 7 inch repainted dial with black Roman numerals and blued steel hands, signed in the centre C. Scherer, London. The double gut fusee movement with verge escapement and later engraved pendulum with unusual regulation, striking the hours on a polished bell mounted above, the backplate engraved around the borders, currently ticking and striking, sold together with winding key. 41cms (16ins) high.
