A late 19th century mahogany bracket clock case and dial incorporating a late 18th century quarter chiming movement. Signed Laidlaw, London The case sumounted by a brass carrying handle over a single pad top with moulded break arch, the simple front with glazed observation windows to the sides and back, terminating in a moulded base and sitting on four cast brass bun feet. The 8 inch brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with cruciform half hour markers, the matted centre signed in a cartouche Laidlaw, London with blued steel hands framed by cast brass spandrels with strike/silent subsidiary to the break arch. The large 18th century movement with engraved back plate and triple chain fusee with verge escapement, striking on a nest of polished bells mounted above, currently ticking and striking. 45cm (19ins) high.
