A early 18th century and later striking lantern clock Thomas Brycun in Shepton Mallet The case surmounted by a brass finial above the bell and bell stand, further supported by four turned finials to each corner and pierced brass frets, the front fret engraved with a pair of dolphins, the frame supported by four columns with later brass side doors, terminating in a flat base on ball feet. The 6.25 inch dial with Roman chapter ring and unusual half hour markers to the engraved centre depicting floral motifs and centred by a Tudor rose, with later blued steel hand. The two train movement with verge escapement and short pendulum, striking the hours on the bell mounted above via a count wheel, currently ticking and striking, sold together with a weight. 40cms (16ins) high.
