He served at Gibraltar between 28 September 1897 - 18 July 1898 and then served at Egypt between 19 July 1898 - 7 October 1898 he then spent the remainder of his service at home until he was discharged on 21 February 1909.He re-enlisted into the 13th Battalion Middlesex Regiment (10678) on 20 May 1915 and saw service in France from 2 June 1916.
