Parr of Darjeeling, mounted on photographer's card, with printed details, and inked caption on verso, image 145 x 102mm., c.1909 Two group photographs of Sikkim, Bhutanese and British officials taken at the installation of Sidkeong as Maharaja, centred on a seated Sidkeong, and including his successor Tashi Namgyal,and half sister Choni, W. H. Hodges and his wife, one with early ink note identifying all the sitters, images 150 x 205mm., c.1914 Four photographs of Tashi Namgyal, including groups at his installation as Maharaja, with W.H. Hodges in attendance, 2 mounted, largest 145 x 200mm., others approx. 100 x 155m., c.1915, and another studio portrait of Sidkeong by an unidentified photographer (10) Footnotes: Fine group of photographs of Sidkeong Tulku Namgyal (1879-1914), who was the ruling Chogyal of Sikkim in 1914, and his successor, Tashi Namgyal (1893-1963) who ruled until his death. Provenance: Walter H. Hodges (1868-1938), who acted as assistant to the Political Officer at Sikkim from 1890 to 1917. He, and his family were on very friendly terms with Sidkeong, having known him from a young age, and living nearby to the Royal palace at Gangtok, Sikkim.
