Löwy after paintings by J. Blaas, one large folding map (loose at end of volume 2), volume 3 publisher's cloth-backed boards, volumes 1 and 2 modern bindings (to match) retaining original printed upper boards, 8vo, Vienna, Wilhelm Kohler, 1874-1875 (4) Footnotes: A fine photographic record, with good provenance, of a trip to the East Indies undertaken in 1873. The Chinese views include 3-part panoramas of Canton and Macao, and two 2-part panoramas of Hong Kong (the racecourse, and the harbour). Also views of Shanghai and Ningpo, and studio portraits of a group of female musicians, and sedan carriers from Canton. Provenance: Album compiled by Julius [Giulio] Blaas (1888-1934), an Italian artist who accompanied the expedition to China in 1873-4 which is described in the Tagebuchblätter.
