The bbl. extension is marked with the 2-digit year of mfg. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "byf" mfg. code. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and fixed V-notch rear sight. Lanyard bar on rear of frame has been removed at one time, with some grind marks present in corresponding areas. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, rear toggle pin, as well as the grips. This example is also accompanied by an unsigned letter which states that this Luger was brought back by Daniel Hoye of the 101st Airborne Division. The letter goes on to state that Daniel Hoye passed away before sharing how he acquired this example. CONDITION: excellent, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original salt blue finish, exhibiting some light to mild wear and thinning (primarily on edges of the muzzle and sideplate), some superficial handling marks, as well as some small scattered spots of light surface oxidation overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting few small spots of extremely light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show mild smoothing and a few superficial nicks to the diamonds, with the left panel exhibiting a chip in the usual area, to the right of the safety lever. Aluminum mag. plug exhibits a small chip on the left "ear". Holster remains malleable, exhibiting general overall wear, with varying degrees of age related cracking and some patches of light to mild crazing. Stitching on the bottom of the right belt loop has torn free, with some losses to the stitching present on the right edge of the loading tool pouches' closure flap. Stock shows some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. An very nice example of a Mauser 1941 production P.08 Luger. (26-1803/MLW). CURIO. $2,250-3,500.
